August 2006 Let Patience Have Her Perfect Work......
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the
end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow." M.A. Hershey
Not long ago I received an e-mail that read, "I am absolutely overwhelmed
and in over my head on issues that seem to increase on a daily basis." How
many of us experience this very same "overwhelmed-ness" on a weekly or
even daily basis?
The drive to achieve must be coupled with very real fact that "Anything
worth doing, is worth doing well," as the saying goes....and to arrive
takes time, patience and perseverance. Our "instant" society sets many of
us up for impatience, frustration and a lack of perseverance to dictate
our daily decision making processes.
When this impatient frustration takes a hold it is easy to lose site of
the steadiness required to set goals and see them through to completion...
Remember, "the hero is the man who can last five minutes longer."
To be successful one must learn to take the "strategic long view," set the
course - continue to continue - and always be open and ready to adjust
along the way.....Yes you heard me "things will need to be adjusted along
the way," and those adjustments will enhance outcomes and enable you to
develop confidence for overcoming even greater challenges in the future.
"Ambition and patience make a powerful team.
Ambition gives you the drive and the enthusiasm to get things started,
and patience sees them through.
Without ambition, you would never get going.
Without patience, you would give up long before
the goal was reached.
When you choose to develop and activate both your ambition
and your patience, you've created a relentless combination.
For not only will you be effective, that effectiveness will
continue to be applied over time.
With enough ambition, you can make just about anything
happen, but not right away.
The most effective effort is continuing effort, and that is what patience makes possible.
Success comes to those who know when to push and when to wait.
Balance ambitious effort with a deep, underlying patience, and the results
you achieve will be truly amazing."
Ralph Marston
